Now that a judge has unsealed the 2001 Anthrax attack documents, it sure will be interesting to see what happens to the lawsuit by the widow of one of the victims, Robert Stevens. Stevens was a photo editor at American Media Inc., who died October 5, 2001 when anthrax was mailed to his office in Florida, and the first of five to be killed in the anthrax attacks. So far, a federal judge has refused to dismiss the claim despite efforts by the Justice Department, and that issue is on appeal. AP writes,
Now that the FBI is pinning the blame on government scientist Bruce Ivins, the lawsuit brought by Maureen Stevens looks positively clairvoyant. And results of the FBI investigation could have a major effect on the outcome of her case.
"We were right all along," Patrick Hogan, the son-in-law of Maureen and the late Robert Stevens, said in a telephone interview Tuesday. "It seems to me it's pretty much a slam dunk."
