Disney theme parks are supposed to be places “where dreams come true,” but for two-year-old Lena Dickerson, that dream turned out to be a nightmare.
While visiting a Disneyland petting zoo, Lena was allegedly mauled by a German shepherd-Labrador retriever. The six-year-old dog was reportedly obtained from an Orange County Animal Shelter just two weeks before the alleged attack. Although the shelter is said to have identified the dog as “not very social,” a Disney employee held its leash and invited children to pet it, according to the Associated Press.
Lena had been petting the dog for several minutes and was saying goodbye when the dog is alleged to have lunged, biting her several times on the face and causing permanent scars.
The lawsuit seeks “unspecified punitive damages and reimbursement for the family’s medical costs and the trauma it suffered.”
