Former Johnny Carson/Tonight Show sidekick Ed McMahon has been in the public eye a lot lately. His real-estate woes have been well documented. He has also been busy pitching walk-in bathtubs, and battling it out on Celebrity Family Feud. But that’s not all Ed’s been up to.
On a more serious note, Ed has filed suit against Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and two physicians for failing to perform x-rays and determine that he had a broken neck, as well as improperly performing two surgeries.
According to the story, “A Los Angeles Superior Court judge ruled last week that McMahon's lawsuit against Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and two physicians lays out adequate legal ground to pursue claims that include negligence, elder abuse, battery, fraud and intentional infliction of emotional distress.”
Conventional wisdom might suggest that celebs like McMahon would merit red carpet treatment when it comes to medical care—but as we’ve discussed before in the context of the near-lethal poisoning of Dennis Quaid’s infant twins and other disturbing incidents, the opposite has been true. Celebs are far from being immune from health care horrors.
And as Dennis Quaid testified in Congress nor are they immune from California’s limits on compensation for patients injured or killed by medical malpractice, which reduce hospitals’ accountability to patients and makes healthcare more unsafe for everyone.
