There have been so many calls for Obama to replace Nancy Nord, the corporate crony Bush holdover who is still acting Chair of the Consumer Product Safety Commission, we’ve about lost count. The latest comes from U.S. Senator Bill Nelson (D-FL) who’s pretty angry at Nord and the CPSC for letting in defective drywall from China, releasing sulfuric gases into his state and sickening Floridians. Who could blame him for calling for Nord’s ouster? Or an even better question, what’s it going to take to get Nancy Nord out of the CPSC???
How about:
1) An editorial from the country’s leading newspaper, the New York Times?
2) Prominent consumer and science groups (maybe even including us, ThePopTort)?
3) Regional papers like Florida's “News-Press”?
4) Coffee? (Well, that’s what Martha Stewart recommends to encourage party stragglers to head for the exits.)
5) A tremendous gong?
6) Prominent committee chairs in Congress?
7) The Von Trapp Family Singers (and their rendition of “So long, farewell, Auf wiedersehen, adieu”)? Totally awesome!
8) Na-na-na-na? (Like when some drunk guy gets hauled off at a sporting event – hey hey hey, goodbye)?
9) Nancy Nord herself?
10) The hook—Vaudeville-style?
If you’ve got another idea, let us know. We’re open.
