Forget that Zac Efron is 17 Again. Monsters v. Aliens, who cares?
Today’s #1 comedy? Pre-movie commercials by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce! Coming to Regal theaters (and maybe others) in Washington D.C.! And on a subject that’s gripping the nation!
The U.S. Chamber, our country’s leading corporate lobbyist (at least they spend the most), tells why the biggest problem facing the country today isn’t the financial meltdown, record unemployment, two wars, swine flu, toxic peanut butter …. (need we go on). It’s lawsuits – that’s right, legal proceedings by average working families, especially the ones against corporate executives who defraud and poison people. Laughing yet?
Are these Chamber people tone deaf? Obsessed maybe? (as this is clearly the most important problem in, in, …OK, forget that.) Maybe it's just satisfying that moviegoers will now have the chance to see real (that’s reel!) propaganda done professionally, with lots of money.
Make people watch and hear this message as they settle in with their popcorn hoping Hannah Montana shows up soon. Now that’s a quick, direct and certain way to fix this country’s ills!
And if they mislead a few people along the way, well, how else are they supposed to convince us to give up our own rights? Or make us, taxpayers, pay to support people with serious injuries, instead of the wrongdoer who caused them? Isn't it time for taxpayers finally to shoulder a little burden here?
These folks at the U.S. Chamber are more than just ambassadors of happiness. They’re serving this nation’s fundamental goals of corporate immunity, wiping out everyone’s legal rights and making taxpayers pay more!
But hey, don’t forget to enjoy the movie. (And here are some ways to complain).
